Tuning Is it worth tuning my SS?

Hi have had my GPA SS for about 6 months now and all though the power is a massive increase from my old GP startjet I am now getting bored of the power and want more. The question is would you bother spending the money to try and get it up to about the 210hp mark or just buy another car? Also how bad would it affect the resale price if I did remap and tune it? Any advice or opinions would be great

210 is achieveable for £300 maybe less

You can get a Tuning box from TMC and then it increases boost and fueling, its removable for resale as well and MOT time. Read up on it

A custom remap should see you get to around the 210 mark and the good thing about a map is that its pretty much undetectable

Thanks for the help guys! I like the sound of the TMC box, but does anyone know where it plugs into on the car? Is the point down to the right of the steering wheel? cheers

It plugs into the engine, there is plenty of advice on this forum.

depends on old or new model if it requires a power feed as well and plugs into two locations in the engine bay

The TMC Tuning kit plugs into the manifold air pressure sensor and the boost pressure sensor. Takes about 3 minutes to install, very easy and a very noticeable difference in power.

Standard turbo won't last very long with 200+ bhp btw

Standard Turbo is uprated on the SS to a GT1446, standard boost is 180bhp, I wouldnt expect it would take much more to get to 200Bhp, so turbo life would be ok. Some people have run for over 30,000 miles at 200+ now.

More worried about wastegate issues as thats a weak link currently

Thats kl, i guess. I was basing this on the GT1446 is based on the GT1544 architecture and that is only list rated to 150bhp all be it the the 1446 does have a larger compressor.
