Headlight "bullseye" repair kits,experiences?

Hi,
I've got a small "bullseye" crack in the Windscreens prescribed MOT area ( main view),
was contemplating a £60 glass company repair - BUT I have seen these DIY kits on EBay for @ £10 ,

anybody gone DIY??,
as I want to spend the min on a £300 banger,

Check your car insurance policy glass repairs are free on some think aviva have a £10 charge....

some companies will load a bit more on next year some wont....

thanks - that would be my STD. course of action but this "banger" has basic Ins. - so no glass cover,

I'll post again (with a correct heading) in the punto2, as that probably the busiest place within "banger" territory,

I've seen them over the years, but of course - now I'm trying to resurrect an MOT failure for a friend,
driving to Asda on the off-chance isn't really an option

good to hear it's free though, as a call-out one is @£60,( I thought they would be similar) hence the DIY option.

The "free" repairs are not free. They will charge your insurance company instead of you. BUT. Some insurance companies will only authorise repairs through their chosen repairers, so when one of these others send them a bill it is refused. Then the "free" company will chase you for the fee instead, as they will have got you to sign their form to agree to that when they did the repair. Of course, if you see one, you can always ask what they would charge you if you paid there and then.

Thanks - that WS my understanding..,
as I said it's a cheap old car with NO current MOT,

BUT needs the screen fixed for it's FREE retest,
looks like I'm going for the £10 DIY option,
I'll let you know how it goes..,

Good luck. Take care, because a poor repair will probably fail for the same reason, but at least you'll only be £10 worse off before pursuing the other options.
