Hellos,

I was given investigating a Ducato 2.3 (2014) which will not start normally but can be coaxed to idle with startgas (not by me!) but dies under load.

The fuel pressure at the filter (low pressure circuit) is around 1 bar/100 kPa. My impression is that this is excessive. Reported rail fuel pressure was about 140 bar/14000 kPa even at idle. Fuel filter new, fuel tank drained, and electric pump cleaned.

I went looking for a fuel pressure reducer between the filter and high pressure pump (from 2006 documentation) but found only a "passive extender" (see photo).

I would be grateful if anyone could share some documentation of this fuel system as well as general diagnostic strategies.

Thanks you!

Derek

My thoughts are more that rail pressure at idle should be at least 250 Bar. on idle.
It may be worth doing a "leak off test" to see if injectors are worn giving poor pressure at low engine speed.
Has it done many miles/Kilometers?
I assume cranking speed is reasonable?
