Introduction
Great, unappreciated car.
That's definitely the best possible colour combination - beige interior, black bodywork.
It depends whether the GM gearbox and clutch could take it - I believe from previous discussions here that they may be pretty close to the limit at 150. I think, from memory, that someone here did chip theirs and the clutch started slipping shortly after. It's worth a search on here to find out.
Having said that, if the DPF ever fails then I'd probably get it deleted from the ECU and bypassed, together with the EGR valve. If you go down this road then a power increase is probably standard anyway. So I'd have to look into it if it came to it. And it all depends on how the new MOT rules are going to be enforced - there was talk of all cars that had a DPF being required to keep it for ever. This may have been bluster though - our Cromas were all made before the DPF became a legal requirement, and I don't know whether DVLA actually know which cars have/had one when made - it's more likely that they'll pick a manufactured date after DPFs became compulsory, in which case we can do what we like.
Aisin auto box good for at least 180 BHP. It's just the chewing gum driveshafts that's the problem.
