Just bought the lead and downloaded Multiecuscan. Is there a noobs guide?

So I have the lead and am installing the software. So do I start the car up, plug it in and run a scan? Is that it?

if you go onto the site that sells the software there should be a guide on how to proceed
main thing is getting com port right and also that the cable speed is correct
for a newby i would suggest you connect cable to obd socket and usb on laptop and turn key to mar position ie lights on dash lit but engine not running

you can move onto live data once you familiarise yourself with everything

its best practice to always turn ignition off before removing lead

Good advice thanks. Completely green with all this plugging in stuff but cant wait to have ago. Mind you i'll have to find out where to plug them into first!
